The Mistral Aeration
System is a simple yet innovative way of increasing air circulation within windrows, speeding up the composting process and eliminating odours

The fundamental ingredients of successful composting are enhanced using the Mistral Aeration system whilst eliminating the normal problems of using in ground or above ground compost aeration systems. Rusting, damage, leachate production and blocking are all associated with conventional aeration systems and all these are problems of the past with Mistral.

Air pipes are placed into the compost mechanically once the in-vessel tunnel is full or the outside windrow has been completed or as it’s being formed. By using the reverse aeration function the naturally occurring phenomena in the compost pile is greatly enhanced with Mistral, leading to faster degradation of the compost and a more homogeneous end product.

If used on outside windrow composting sites the use of Mistral negates the need to turn the windrows during maturation which leads to many problems associated with potentially unpleasant odours arising from anerobic parts of the windrow. The use of Mistral reduces the operating cost of the site as no costly turning of the compost by machine is required during the maturation.

CSL supply all the equipment needed to successfully use the Mistral system and are also able to set up trials on customers sites if required. The design and invention of Mistral was only possible by combining the experiences of the team behind CSL.
